Taking things slowly means to give yourself a break in the middle of the chaos and the fast paced rhythm of life allowing you to enjoy the present moment and connect with your senses—opening them up to receive everything that’s out there in your environment and observing everything around you with curiosity, almost childlike.
Did you know that what surrounds us greatly influences our mood? That’s why I want to give you the tools for creating those healing spaces—those places where you can connect with yourself through your body and all your senses.
This time, the sense we’ll be indulging is the sense of smell. We can perceive fragrances around us and capture them, bottling them up in the trunk of our memories. Who hasn’t experienced smelling a perfume and instantly recalling a special person or a particular place? I think this common human experience reminds us of how similar we are, despite our differences.
I happen to be the kind of person who relies heavily on my sense of smell. Being a Taurus myself, I cherish all the delightful things around me, and that includes a well-scented room. That’s precisely why I decided to create my own room spray. Recently, I developed an affection for cinnamon leaf essential oil. It entered my life without any intention on my part. I caught its scent, liked it, and decided to make a room spray out of it.
This essential oil displays numerous therapeutic properties, but one that particularly caught my attention was its focusing ability. I Intended to concoct a potion that would make my space smell wonderful, allowing me to relish the present moment and truly be there. Moreover, it’s effective when you’re feeling fatigued; it provides a natural energy boost.
I’m confident you’ll fall in love with this DIY project as I did .
Here are the ingredients you’ll need:
1 orange or tangerine peel
1 tablespoon of cardamom powder (or even better, use 5 drops of cardamom essential oil)
5 drops of sandalwood essential oil
10 drops of cinnamon leaf pure essential oil
Begin by boiling 1 cup of water and adding the orange peel and cardamom. Let it simmer for about 10 to 20 minutes. Then, allow it to cool down before adding your chosen essential oils. In my case, I opted for cinnamon and sandalwood, but feel free to select your favorites. To enhance preservation, add 1 tablespoon of alcohol if desired. Transfer the mixture into an empty bottle—I’m using a 1 oz. spray bottle for mine. Now you can relish this delightful aroma whenever you desire, in any space you prefer.
I hope you could use this DIY idea as much as I do and you can start creating those cozy and comfy spaces you all deserve. Remember to enjoy every moment, allow yourself to be creative and express all your love for your inner and physical home.
